EACTC Social Norms Project

Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care (EACTC) has launched a year-long positive community norms campaign.  You may ask, “What is a positive community norms campaign?”

The idea of Positive Community Norming (or PCN) is to focus on the positive behaviors within a community in order to grow those behaviors and improve the overall health and safety of the community.  PCN can also decrease the incorrect perception that youth may have that all of their peers are engaging in a risky behavior by focusing on the majority that are making healthy choices.

We’ve created a series of 4 yard signs that will be displayed throughout the community for the next year.  The theme of each sign is based on research and surveys completed by adults and youth right here in Elizabethtown.  The goal of the yard signs is to promote the positive beliefs and behaviors of our residents and encourage the growth of those behaviors.

How can you be part of the PCN campaign?  By displaying a yard sign at your home especially if you live:

– At a stop sign.

-On a well traveled street with a low speed limit.

-Where there is a lot of foot traffic past your home.

Your home will host each of the 4 signs during the entire months of July, September, December, and March.  Fifty yard signs will be displayed throughout the community during these months. EACTC will bring the sign to you each quarter and collect the previous sign.   Sign up today by emailing your name, address, and phone number to amy@eactc.org.

Thank you for your support of our programs. We are excited to bring our community together with this PCN project!
